Every year the United Kingdom uses:
• 48 million inkjet cartridges
• 7 million laser toner cartridges
Millions of these used printer, fax and copier cartridges can be recycled. They can be worth up to £7 each to Age Concern Norfolk.
• 15 million mobile phones are upgraded every year
They can be worth around £4.50 each to Age Concern Norfolk.
By recycling products you would normally throw away you can:
• reduce the damaging impact waste inflicts on the environment
• raise funds to improve the lives of older people
81% of people aged 50 plus use Age Concern services.
Without giving money you can visibly support Age Concern Norfolk by generating vital income to maintain the services we offer older people and at the same time help to protect the environment.
Whether you are an individual with one item to be recycled or an organisation that throws away used printer cartridges daily, Age Concern Norfolk - through our recycling partner - will provide you with all the materials needed to operate a recycling scheme and will collect recycling boxes for free or provide you with freepost envelopes.
Reclaim-it has developed a system to safely collect empty laser toner and inkjet cartridges and mobile phones from offices throughout the UK.
The collection bin has been designed to safely store up to 12 laser cartridges, or a combination of lasers, inkjets and mobile phones.
Once the collection bin is full, the lid can be closed and the box sealed and a call placed to Reclaim-it for free collection and a replacement collection bin.
Reclaim-it has launched an additional service to its current collection programme. The focus for this aspect of the collection programme is the Reclaim-it reply paid envelope.
This new service enables our customers to send their ink jet cartridges and mobile phones to Reclaim-it on an on-going basis, rather than storing them as one large quantity, before entrusting them to Reclaim-it.
The reply paid envelope has been designed to withstand postal service handling and safely holds one ink jet cartridge in its original packaging, or one mobile phone and its charger.
Unfortunately Epson ink cartridges cannot be recycled and therefore should not be returned under this programme.
Help protect the environment by recycling your used printer cartridges and mobile phones and, at the same time, raise vital funds to provide services for older people in your community. Please contact us to find out more about recycling for Age Concern Norfolk.
