Annual General Meeting 2008

At the 2008 Annual General Meeting the usual annual business was dealt with and the keynote presentation was given by Stephen Burke, Chief Executive of Counsel and Care.

Counsel and Care is a national charity working with older people, their families and carers to get the best care and support. The charity provides personalised, in-depth advice and information, which informs our research and campaigning work. A few weeks before attending our AGM Mr Burke had been honoured at the Ceretas National Homecare Awards when he was named the Social Care Personality of the Year in recognition of the "significant contribution" made by Mr Burke and Counsel and Care in the social care sector during the year.

Mr Burke's presentation was entitled "The future of care for older people and their carers" and looked at the long-term challenges in providing high quality care for older people and possible options for future funding.
